PRESS RELEASE NO: 2019-028

Attention:  Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

(SNAP, formerly Food Stamp Program) Recipients

The Director of Public Health and Social Services would like to remind all SNAP recipients who have renewal/recertification dates scheduled for the month of January 2019 to please come to their respective centers to renew/recertify their cases if they have not done so.

As directed by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, the Department of Public Health and Social Services will need to process ALL January 2019 renewal applications by January 15, 2019 to allow current Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients to get their February 2019 benefits early.  If a SNAP recipient fails to renew before January 16, 2019, there is no guarantee that the February 2019 benefits will be received.

Recipients are reminded to bring their renewal application together with all the required documents on or before January 15, 2019 for immediate processing. Again, the following are reminded to come in to renew/recertify their cases:

  • Clients who have missed their scheduled appointment between January 1 and 11, 2019.
