DPHSS Release No. 2017-010
Back to Nature Foods, LLC Chocolate Cookies & Granola Voluntary Recall
The Department of Public Health and Social Services, in coordination with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, would like to inform the public of a voluntary recall of Back to Nature chocolate chunk cookie and granola products because of an undeclared allergen (milk) on its label and the potential for adverse health effects.
The affected chocolate chunk cookie and granola products are being recalled because those products contain chocolate purchased from a third-party supplier that was found to contain undeclared milk, which is not listed as an ingredient on the label.
This voluntary recall includes six products with the following "BEST IF USED BY" code dates and UPC numbers.
Persons who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The affected cookie and granola products were distributed to retail stores nationwide. No other products or best by dates are impacted.
To date, the Division of Environmental Health has determined that affected Back to Nature Chocolate Delight Granola (11 oz. products) with UPC #19898-01201) were sold at Oka Payless Market in Tamuning. All affected products were removed from store shelves and destroyed.
The Department has not received any local report of injuries or illnesses associated with the consumption of these recalled commodities. Consumers who have purchased the items listed above are urged to return them to the place of purchase, or obtain a full refund or replacement by contacting Back to Nature’s Consumer Relations Center by calling the number 1-844-275-5845 or visiting its website at http://www.backtonaturefoods.com/contact-us/.
