PRESS RELEASE 2013-014
The Department of Public Health and Social Services will convene a Community Stakeholder Committee Meeting on Monday February 18, 2013 at the Guam Marriott Resort & Spa. The objective of the meeting is to orientate the stakeholders on the Department’s plans to conduct a community health assessment which will be used to plan, adapt and respond to important health conditions on Guam.
The community health assessment is a collaborative process that includes regular systematic collection, analysis and dissemination of information on the health status of a community. The information gathered from the assessment will be used to develop a community health improvement plan that addresses important health concerns with the goal of achieving a healthier Guam.
By providing a centralized source of information and data about the health status of those who live on Guam, our hope is to achieve the following:
-Provide policy makers with data and information to update important public health policies, laws and legislation that promote health and wellness.
-Inform community health improvement planning through community engagement and greater collaboration.
-Strengthen departmental capacity through coordination of services among community agencies and organizations through formal mechanisms, such as Memoranda of Understanding, data sharing agreements and co-sponsored events.
