Epi-Aid Survey (Food Environment Assessment)


The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) and the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Consortium, in partnership with the U.S. Centers for Disease and Control Center would like to inform the public that an Epi-Aid Survey will be conducted from September 18, 2015 to September 29, 2015. 

The survey involves conducting a nutrition environment assessment of selected retail food establishments and restaurants in Guam.  The assessment would include an observation/food tally of healthy and low sodium items purchased in retail food establishments as well as sodium use practices in restaurants.  It would also involve review of the menus, signs or displays, and interviews with the store or restaurant managers. Information from the assessment will provide a nutrition environment baseline data in Guam. The data collected can assist DPHSS and the NCD Consortium in planning future interventions as well as provide insight into conducting additional assessments and priorities.

The survey is completely anonymous and the information you share is confidential.  Geographically representative samples of stores and restaurants will be selected.  This is strictly voluntary.
