The Department of Public Health and Social Services, the Breastfeeding Nutrition Action Team of the Non-Communicable Disease Consortium and other community partners from Guam Community College, University of Guam, Guam Memorial Hospital, etc., are pleased to announce that August is “Guam Breastfeeding Awareness Month.” The 2016 theme revolves around the Breastfeeding Action Team’s mission statement to “Protect, Promote, and Support Breastfeeding.”
As part of the Guam Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the above groups will be holding the 3rd Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Health Fair on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10:00a.m.to 2:00p.m. at the Micronesia Mall Center Court. Activities such as, a Proclamation Signing/Resolution, entertainment, arts/crafts, raffle prizes, and table top exhibits from various community service providers. In addition, the fair aims to increase the awareness of the Guam Public Law 32-098 known as the Nana Yan Patgon Act that serves to protect a woman’s right to breastfeed in private or public establishments and that breastfeeding is not considered an indecent act.
