Nana Yan Patgon Act First Anniversary Celebration

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) is pleased to announce that the Guam Breastfeeding Committee, their members and associates, and the Non-Communicable Disease Consortium (NCD) will be celebrating the First Anniversary of the Public Law 32-098 “Nana Yan Patgon Act” – The Right to Breastfeed on November 29, 2014.

The committee plans to have a fun-filled day of food, family games, a baby clothes swap, and more to promote, protect, and support Breastfeeding on Guam. This event will be held at the Joseph Flores Beach Park Main Pavilion, Pale San Vitores, Tumon, Guam (next to the Hilton Hotel) on November 29, 2014, Saturday from 10am to 4pm. This is a potluck. Please bring your favorite dish and your own chairs.

DPHSS encourages the island community to promote and support breastfeeding as the normal and optimal feeding choice. Breastfeeding is considered as “evidence-based practice” by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and “Best Buys” by the World Health Organization to protect our babies against illnesses such as ear and respiratory infections, allergies and support optimal brain development and keeps babies and children healthy. Diabetes, cancer and heart problems are dramatically lower among breastfed babies and their mothers.
Let us celebrate our babies, our mothers, our island and our future.
