October 2015: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Proclamation Signing and Wellness Event
The Department of Public Health and Social Services’ Guam Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and the Guam Comprehensive Cancer Control Program in partnership with the Cancer Control Coalition, Guam Cancer Care, American Cancer Society, Guam Regional Medical City, Paradise Fitness Center, Non-Communicable Disease Consortium and other community partners will be hosting the Breast Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation Signing and Wellness Event on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Micronesia Mall, Center Court.
This year marks the 31st year anniversary of designating October as the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The aim of this celebration is to create awareness and promote mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer. The theme for this year’s celebration is “The Power of Pink”.
The event will feature a mini- health fair to be participated by the various programs and community partners as well as physical fitness activities by certified Body Combat and Mixxed Fit national instructors. Additionally, raffle drawings will be conducted throughout the event.
