Recipe Video Contest to Promote Food Safety in Guam’s Middle and High Schools

The Division of Environmental Health (DEH) of the Department of Public Health and Social Services, the Guam Food Safety Task Force, and the Environmental Public Health Association are pleased to announce that we are sponsoring a food safety recipe contest for Guam students in grades 6th to 8th and a food safety video contest for grades 9th to 12th to promote food safety in our island.

This year marks the ten year anniversary of Guam Food Safety Education Month (GFSEM), which DEH of this Department has spearheaded annually since 2006. In recognizing its many GFSEM achievements of the past decade, DEH has adopted this year’s theme to be “A Decade of Fighting Bac!”

The winners will be recognized at our 10th Annual GFSEM Fair 2015 on September 26, 2015 at the Center Court of the Micronesia Mall in Dededo. Great prizes will also be awarded to the winners!

The food safety recipe contest entries are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015 and the food safety video contest entry forms are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015. The deadline to submit the actual video is on Friday, May 15, 2015. If your child’s teacher or school is not participating, individual entries may be delivered by parents to the Division of Environmental Health office on the second floor of the Central Public Health Facility in Mangilao.
